Khan Market

Khan Market Khan Market is one of the most expensive and upscale market in Delhi. Recently, it was ranked as the costliest retail location in India and 24th across the globe. The market is situated almost in the center of city, close to India Gate.

Khan market is surrounded by residential complexes - both Government as well as private that are home to a considerable number of bureaucrats from the central government, and renowned people like the satiric writer Khushwant Singh. Situated in the close vicinity of the famed Lodhi Gardens, Khan Market is one of the greenest pockets in the city. Also in nearby places are the India International Centre, the India Habitat Centre, offices of the World Wide Fund for Nature, and other important organizations.

Originally allocated as seed land to immigrants from Pakistan and the North West frontier provinces after India’s partition, the place today has emerged as one of the most expensive commercial real estate centers in the city.

Khan Market has a wide variety of stores, which include modern showrooms of most of well known brands, such as Nike, Reebok, Benetton, Goodearth and others. Delicatessens, bookstores, electronics, kitchenware, and fabric stores mingle with some of the quality restaurants in Delhi. Some of the good stores and eating joints include FabIndia, Anokhi, Cooptex, Cafe Turtle, Big Chill, Cafe Zaffiro, Subway, Kriti Creations, and Khadi Gramudyog.

Khan market is also known for its street food that include Salim's Kebabs, Khan Chacha's Kebab's and momos opposite Lok Nayak Bhavan that houses various government offices.

Khan market gets its name after Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan.
